Mangroves can serve as tsunami barriers.

Scientists working on finding earlier warning systems for tsunamis are looking to more natural resources to protect ourselves from such disasters. Mangroves have already saved many lives and buildings from the power of a tsunami, and if carefully planted many more people could be saved.
